The county's news release about the sheriff web apps says the app shows recent arrests, active inmates, charges, incidents, citations, and jail information. The research did not confirm that the public PowerBI report displays booking photos. For that reason, the accurate phrasing is "if a booking photo is displayed in the roster."
Marion County does not publish a separate official mugshot gallery in the source set reviewed for this project. The county also did not publish a confirmed retention window for how long any photo, if shown, remains visible after release. A person who appears in the jail roster may have been arrested, booked, or recently released, but the roster is not proof of guilt and does not replace formal court records. Marion County Mugshot Law
Iowa public-record law frames the booking-photo issue. Iowa Code Chapter 22 broadly governs examination and copying of public records held by state, county, and local government, unless another law makes a record confidential. The Iowa Public Information Board explains that requests for copies may be made in writing, by telephone, or electronically under the lawful custodian's supervision.
